Hooray! Yes, this was a mere "friendly match," but an outstanding performance by the MLS All-Stars nevertheless. Top European clubs tour North America this time of year to recoup some of the exorbitant salary money they pay to their star players. For English fans, this is an inconsequential (though slightly embarassing) loss. Imagine the New York Yankees travelling to Venezuela and losing to the country’s top club in an exhibition game. No big deal, really. But for the marginalized American soccer fan, it means a lot.
